Mortal Kombat Unchained
Thankfully, I borrowed it from a friend and he gave me a few days with it. From what I've played its an almost EXACT port of MK: Deception, which is the second latest MK game on the market, the first being Armageddon.
Anyway, the game plays the same as deception, combos, fatalities, stages, and all other content you can really think of is in this game, which is amazing considering that it's all jam packed into a 1.8 GB disk. This game is a double edged sword in sorts. If you played Deception to your hearts content, then you don't really need to play Unchained, unless you want to kombat on a portable scale.
Game play is the same as Deception, with the two fighting styles, and one weapon style, a myriad of moves that are pretty to look at to boot. Fatalities are here to stay and are exactly the same as the ones seen in Deception.
Konquest mode, which is the RPG of sorts about one of the characters, Shujinko, is in this PSP port, and quite frankly, has the WORST camera you could ever want in any game ever. If you go along the wall, the camera looks at the view, and seems to think, "OH SHI- I forgot to follow Shujinko!" Voice acting, like in Deception, is so horrible that I had to turn off the sound just to make Konquest bearable.
The Krypt also makes an appearance in Unchained, but is exactly like its PS2 counterpart. However, some are changed due to having all the characters unlocked from the get go, ala' Tekken: Dark Resurrection.
Anyway, if you need anymore info on what's on Unchained, you can actually look up a Deception review, most likely it would sound the same.
Since I played Deception almost to death, I felt pretty empty on this game since I knew almost everything about the game. Another disappointment for me was the lack of infrastructure mode completely and only supports ad-hoc game play. Overall? The game is great if you haven't played Deception, or that you want to take your kombat skills on the road. Other then that? I don't think I'll buy it.
Score?
7/10 Just for being an amazing port. |
