I like the idea of the contest, but theres lke 20 people that signed up today just to post "yes, i agree" in here and god knows how many other threads. Im not saying this to raise my chances of winning, if people think that the admin can ban me from the competition right away, i really dont care, but i think it would be fair for the site to give back to the people who help out, not all the leeches that just showed up today. | I'm pretty sure the admin can see user IP addresses so how can one person sign up with multiple accounts and not be caught? Also u should be inviting people to join rather than telling them they shouldn't, it helps the community grow... |

Post count competitions are the worst ever. | Okay, I think I've got a great way for everyone to reduce the spam...
Every time you see a spam post, report it. Mods will take care of it soon, and it'll all be gone after that.
Everyone wins.

I have definitely seen a rise in posts already. usually when I wake up I go through the 3 pages of new thread posts. This morning there was 6. Not sure if that was because of this competition or not....probably not. However, I have noticed at least one person who made some really dumb posts who seemed to be trying to make it to 50. I don't understand why 50 posts in a month is rushing people. If you are active and help/welcome people often you should have no problem at all in making 50 posts. It is less then 2 a day. I do think there is gonna be increased spam which I would imagine is gonna be hard on the mods. However, I think this is a great contest that is going to help alot of people spread the word about our site. I predict alot of new members are going to be joining....while some of them may only stay around for the contest. I would imagine alot of them are going to get to see how great this site really is, what a great community we have, and how helpful everyone is.
Oh yeah, is it just me or has there been a crazy amount of new members joining lately? Hooray for pspmod!!!

Wow, a psp... this the most pathetic contest ever, i mean we got some new members (leechers) and people who have like 5 posts and joined sometime in september ^^ just to compete. Anyways theres a small chance of winning since its random. OH well back to my hibernation cave.... |

i can understand wanting to bring more activity to the boards. and i can see there are pros and cons for doing it.
im still new to the whole psp scene so im looking forward to seeing more posts that are helpful and meaningfull
but at the same time im dreading all the useless posts people will be making to just win a psp.
good luck to all that try to win the psp. i konw i wont because i probably wont be able to post 50 helpful posts between now and then since im stilll learning things myself. |

wanna know a better way to hold a contest? offer a psp to a randomly selected person. open a thread about it, u enter by replying to the thread, then a number is randomly chosen. the number matches a post in the thread. for example, say the drawing picks #72, and its Pirate's post, then he wins. u reply more then once in the thread and youre DQ'd. keeps it fair, and kills all the spam on the forum. another forum i post on uses this method for their giveaways and it works flawlessly

Damn, that is so much better.
Anyone can still win, therefore it attracts everyone, while killing all spam in other threads.
admin, your thoughts?

If the winner is truly going to be random, why is the admin requiring 50 posts? I hate spam more than anything ever, and you're right pirate, we can all just report it when it happens, but we shouldnt have to put up with more to begin with. There shouldnt even be the possibility for excess spam. I dont like the "lets introduce the means to create a problem then let all the members sift through the spam later" kind of attitude.

not too late to try my method. create a new thread for the psp giveaway, list the rules, let it run for a month, then go to the link and input 1 for the amount of numbers you wanna select, the start number (first post) and the end number (last post) then hit "go" and it will randomly pick a number from the values entered, and give us a winner Random Number Generator
i actually just ran a test, and post #22 would have been the winner, so frankenberry7 would have been the owner of a new psp, if we used my method
