We are trying to attract more users to the site (I assume). So, doing this would only encourage people to make one post, then check their email/account when the drawing occurs. I know I've done that multiple times before for competitions.

Maybe you'll get a few new users, but the majority won't stay for shit. Maybe by forcing users to do at least 50, we'll get more of an attach rate.

Then again, my logistics could be completely off.

if the sites content is good enough, then people will visit. luring people to join the site with hopes of winning a psp is no different then my idea. theyre make 50 posts, one will win the psp, then we wont see 95% of them again.

But still if you think about it thats 5% more members at the forum. I'm not sure what the normal sign up ratio is normally at this forum but many of the forums I go to I see people join like crazy make 1-5 posts and never return. If you get someone hooked on the forum and if they enjoy the other members they will stay. And I'm sure this is what they are trying to get at.

people that post at least 50 times will see more of the site. Your method involves a couple of clicks with a mouse, and a couple of strokes of the keyboard. No real discovery of the forum.

Though you are right, an extra couple of percents of the people will stay (at least, they would be more likely) with admin's method.

...Not really. Like the admin said in a different post. Its taking up bandwith with the increasing users and is costing more money to keep the site going. 2/3 of PSPMod accounts should be deleted. 39,387/3 3=13,129x2=26,258 Useless accounts that should be deleted....Well im guessing alot of more should be deleted.

you missed what i ment. 2 good members (aka, people who stick around and contribute) is better then the other 98 that make a couple posts and never come back. those 2 people help the site grow and expand more then the people taking up space
