PSPMOD To Branch Out ?

Ive been thinking of expanding PSPMOD and would like ur feedback. Im thinking of opening a site that is focused on "Console Gaming / Modding" rather than just PSP Modding. This site will be simular to this one but will include special forums for PS3, PSP, WII, Xbox, modding and so on

I believe many members from this site will sign up and help out over there as im sure most of us own other systems apart from PSPs. What do you think?

Think it is a great idea but the only problem I foresee is that new forums tend to die rather quickly especially when there are a TON of others just like it.

i dont too much about other systems, im just a psp guy right now. but it does seem like a good idea

I say it's a bad idea, along with DFS' look on it.

Now that there are so many forums on these things already, having a new one which is active and/or used at all is difficult.

Maybe possible add new sections for specific consoles.I know there is already a Other Console mini forum...

Why not just rename this site. And give more focus towards other consoles... Have separate PS3, XBOX 3fixme, PSP, DS, PSP Go!, and Wii sections.

Yah, maybe stick to Sony-brand only. Open up a new section for the PS3 console and another for older Sony systems. Or stick to hand-held consoles only, and open a DS section and a section for older hand-helds. Change the website description so that search engines reflect the change in console format. If the extra forums start pulling some weight then maybe think of a domain name change... Just a thought.

Eh... I'm only a PSP person though. I don't own a PS3. I own a PS2 but I never use the damn thing cause the hog the TV half the time.

I don't like this idea...

Admin isn't trying to just cater to the existing users on this forum, Muffinly. Most of the members on this forum joined because they had a PSP, not a PS3 or a 360 or whatever. He is trying to open the site up to new users (and more traffic) who DO have other systems. Admin needs to realize that he cannot just open the forum to cover all consoles, though. There are thousands of other forums that do that. He needs to keep it specific, and therefore unique.

theres a million other forums out there dedicated to specific console modifications, and just as many catering to everything. what can we offer new members that other forums dont already provide, short of parroting the same information that the existing forums already contain.

this is the top psp modification site, and we should stick to what we know already. i wouldnt expand this forum, but start a 2nd one so that the main source of psp information remains unaffected or lost in the shuffle of becoming a "general gaming forum".

its good intentions to want to expand, but we should leave this forum alone and just form another one if theres desires to draw in a larger fanbase.

I really like this. I think fubar hit it right on the head here. I can't think of one good Sony-only forum.

That's a valid point as well. Why mess with a good thing? Creating a second "sister-site" would be a good idea. If the site takes off and does well then you could always try to figure out a way to bridge the two forums together. If there is a way to then it would also be nice to transfer the member database from one site to the other in order retain post-count, join-date, etc.
