Haha, nice... I hope you like it. It can be scary at first, don't get discouraged. If something breaks it can usually be fixed pretty easily. Ubuntuforums is your friend

Oh, that's a given dude. It's the same in Windows too.

Internet Exploder is probably the worst piece of software you can use in terms of how harmful it is to your computer and how buggy it is and how insecure it is. Even the Windows zealots will tell you this

Go to the section you want to post the thread in. There will be a button at the top and the bottom of the page to post a "New Thread."

I like how some people are taking the dive to be different and I'll tell you what I was just as nervous as any newbie trying it out. But I will say one thing if you ever need help on a problem understand this. 9 out of 10 times you are not the first to complain about and issue and usually there is an answer to get something fixed. Never give up you have to keep in mind that if you want to run things on linux distros that some work everything right out of the box with no real issue and some take a little tweaking. I think except for one thing or two I finally got my linux to look and feel the way i want too. It runs faster and smoother. all I have is

amd64 3200+
Geforce 6800 oc
1gig of mem
160gig hd plus an 80gig usb hd

and thats it. nothing really special and it moves flawlessly. just remember if you try all it might cost u is time.

GL to all who try

Kubuntu 7.04 Feisty, it's the latest stable. 7.10 Gutsy will be coming soon.

Try both Gnome and KDE. I like gnome, but KDE is supposed to be more like windows.

yeah. If you are apprehensive, you could dual-boot. That way, when you boot up your computer you can choose to go either to ubuntu or windows. Thats what i did.
You could devote your entire hd to linux, then to get back to winodws you would have to reinstall the os over linux. I would dualboot if i were you. If you need help figuring out how to do it let us know.

Yes, you should try Ubuntu 7.04 first. It's by far the easiest distro to dive into.
