wlan0 not ready in ubuntu

hey guys. i recently installed ubuntu 8.04 on my dell inspiron 1420 - dualbooted with vista.

anyway - trying to use firestarter to share the internet connection.

so eth0 is my ethernet coming in with full internet access. wlan0 is my wifi connection.

i want to create an ad-hoc on my laptop, so that my PS3 can connect to it and get on PSN.

BUT in firestarter, it keeps on saying "Failed to start the firewall. the device wlan0 is not ready. lease check network device settings and make sure your internet connection is active."

what gives????

I'm dualbooting with vista too, and can't get wi-fi to work. What gives?

well wifi works, but not as an access point

oohoo... ubuntu 8.04 has a bunch of wlan0 driver issues

go grab yourself your drivers, and set them up. 8.10 comes out in one week... should fix those problems for you supposedly if you haven't so already
