Default Mac and iPod question

Hi, first, i have a iMac g5 20" 2ghz with 1gb of RAM. Will leopard run on this well, meaning without slowing it down a lot?

Second, how would i hack an ipod touch with 1.1.4 update (so i can play my ps1 games while my psp is in repair ) or should i hold out until the SDK comes out? Also, if i do, what apps would you recommend? Thanks

dont hold out for the SDK its not promising. check engadget, i think they have a link to jailbreaking 1.1.4's. i cant vouch for the imac.

ok, i havent seen much about it at engadget lately, but i will double check. Thanks

EDIT: i Jailbreaked it! the best app for mac is ziphone 2.5. For the psx4all emulator, do you need the bios? I dont like downloading that stuff off of the internet, because im pretty sure it is illegal. Thanks

you dont need the bios, but your going to want it, and good luck finding any psx games that currently run at a decent fps for the touch.

as for your mac, leopard will run fine. Leopard isnt a vista, where you are recommended to have 2 gb of ram, and a top end processor to run the damn thing decently!

Default Mac and iPod question

You jailbroken 1.1.4? im not going above 1.1.2 yet, ive had issues with 1.1.3 deleting my music and boss tool not working and messing the whole blooming thing up. Wigglie icons dont mean shit anymore

And ive heard Ziphone for 1.1.4 is pretty unstable, how did you find the process?

i for one am sticking with jailbroken, hacked is always better

1.1.4 is ten times more stable than 1.1.3

i currently have a 1.1.4 jailbroken 32gb itouch, like 1.1.4 better than 1.1.1! (hated 1.1.2, 1.1.3 didnt even bother trying)

the only problem with ziphone 1.1.4 jailbroken ipods is if you have a 16gb or a 32gb, you have to do certain procedures before you can even open the installer, or your ipod will randomly freeze, and always freeze when you use the keyboard!

Yeah on a G3 with maxed out ram you could possibly run Tiger(10.4). But Panther(10.3) would be much better. Leopard is way out of the question on a G3.

lol i run tiger on a G3 ibook with 328mb of ram and a 600MhZ processor just fine! whats that "possible" crap...lol

the only thing my G3 ibook cant do is play movies or youtube videos. if i upped the ram to 512mb i bet i could tho.

and leopard was going to have a G3 compatible version till apple decided not to support the G3, the B&^*$&#

Default Mac and iPod question

I use a powermac G3 that is clocked at 450mhz, as a headless server running 10.4.11. It has 1gb of RAM, and still chokes on flash videos, DVD playback, and pretty much most modern formatted video files. Essentially it's just a big external hard drive with multiple discs hooked on my network. As mentioned you will have better luck with panther, but in my opinion it's an OS9 machine. I would kick it old school, or make use of it for file hosting and back ups.

There is a terminal hack that allows you to time machine to networked drives, just a thought.

also someone step up an volunteer to admin the mac section, I don't keep on top of it anymore if you guys have not noticed.
