first...is it with all your UMD's?or just one..if its just one..check if any dust/small scratches are on the disk..

if its all of them..it may be your eye that reads the UMD which is broken..which..indeed..is bad..if this is the case..then go and get it fixed..send it to sony or something

if its(again) with only one UMD disc..it may need a required update....

PSost ur update on this news please..thnx

Default Help! UMD discs not recognised.

hey, thanx for the reply, time for the update: worked yesterday evening ok, and this morning then this afternoon when i sat to play a bit of ridgeracer it happened again, wont recognise it and can not load up the intro screen if I have any UMD inserted, as its an import (present back in June, couldnt wait till today) bit worried on the next step.

PS Would it have anything to do with updating it v2.0?

EDIT: Don't double post! -IONz

I doubt that it would have anything to do with 2.0. Mine works fine with games. I hate to say it but it is probably is the lens. Could be something as simple as dust or complex like burned out senser. I doubt that though since you said that you were able to play again.

Default Help! UMD discs not recognised.

a faceplate for their psp? Is it worth getting one? I'm thinking about getting one. Is hard to put on? I don't want to end up breaking my psp if I do get one.

Not me, but then again I'm not really into customizing my PSP at all.

Shouldnt be too hard to change it over, the biggest thing is to not get dust underneath the screen plastic, a can of compressed air is a good thing to have by to blast it just before closing.

Do it in your kitchen too, generally less dusty than the rest of a house.
