Is there any way that I can map the volume control to a different button? The volume up button on my psp doesnt work and i dont wanna open it up just yet so is there any kind of software that does that?

I doubt it, I had it for at least a year and a half but just in case how would I check it?

probably dax will be making that for 3.30 oe-a it would be nice.

If the unit is out of waranty, seize the moment to customize your boring Sony PSP. You can buy the volume piece on eBay for $10 or less shipped on "you guessed it" eBay. It's a friggin no brainer to replace. You have to open your PSP up which at this point, order yourself a new faceplate and buttons and pimp that bitch out.
