what FW are you using?

if a game requires 2.0 FW

and you have 2.71 you can run it

they are all backwards compatible for a lack of a better description.

if u have a 2.71 or lower firmware go to the ultimate downgrader sticky find the one for ur psp but first check if ur psp is a ta-082 or not i think thats another sticky "how to check ur motherboard" then once u downgraded upgrade to 3.10 oe a and u should be good for a long time but jus dont upgrade to sonys firmware or u wont be able to mod it at all

the best way to get a new psp with a lower firmware is through ebay find someone with good feedback and try to get it from him. i got my psp for $170(before the price change) with a 2.5fw new in box.

Well im gonna use ebay to bro i was just wondering if i should get a 1.50 firmware psp or what..because i wanna be able to do homebrew and all that...and do you need an adaptor to use different type of memory sticks because i see on ebay for memory sticks that they come with adaptors whats that all about is that kind of like a memory card reader??? Also I was told it has a different type of lcd screen on it...has anyone heard of ebay scammers selling bricked psps or what? Ive trusted ebay in the past but dont wanna jump into buying one without knowing if 1.5 f/w is a good f/w for a psp...give back to me with suggestions!

you can use only 1 type for the psp and that is the pro duo memorystick.

as for the firmware you can upgrade from 1.50 to a custom firmware (3.10oe-a) and play homebrew and iso/cso files from memorystick and psx games.

if you can't find a psp with 1.50 you can downgrade every firmware below 3.03 to 1.50.

Hello, Iommer do you got a aim or yahoo name we can msg about this because i am really curious about this whole psp scene..i was just wondering if i have a 1.5 will i have the ta-082 motherboard and what is the big deal about having that motherboard??? I am just curious and wondering because i cant seem to find anything on why u need the ta-082 but then im a newb to this whole scene...So do you think i should go on with the ebay purchase of the 1.5 f/w psp or should i ask of pictures to make sure its not bricked it said its used but its in a box and its got very minimal scratches on the psp case itself...should i ask the seller these questions if it has a ta-082 mobo?? Get back to this post asap

you can buy a used psp at a gamestore and downgrade it, dont buy one with 1.5 already... people tend to sell them for more usually...
then read the stickys on this site for info on what to do with it

if you buy one that already have 1.50 firmware then it doesn't matter what type of mobo it has to be for the upgrade to custom firmware. you can safely upgrade to 3.03oe-c or 3.10oe-a just look at the firmware section for more info.

its important to know the mobo type for the downgrade to 1.50 !! because there are diffrent downgraders for diffrent firmwares and mobo's.and if you use a wrong downgrade program it will brick your psp .
