External antenan

Ok so i figured some of you guys out ther liek me are in class and the signal strength is like 10% and its like connection to server lost so you went on the web and found that hoakie setup for an external antenna but you thought it looked well hoakie since it was permenetly attached and it was liek a brick i made a setup which uses a jack instead so that you can hookup any antenna you want.

I have already done this mod however i removed the internal antenna so now i will open up my psp for you and show you how to set it up with the internal antenna and the external reverse sma jack however since it is just a 2 conductor setup you could probably use any connector you want and make an external adapter to make it any jack you want

this is what i will be using


the hole by the umd door is where my sma jack goes the thing on the umd door is the internal antenna the gold thing is my jack and the white thing is my external antenna not shown is the cable used for this mod

Yea i did this project too but with another antenna that i soldered directly onto the wifi card, but i love your idea that youll have a connector on teh psp to you can remove the antenna any tim u dont need it i might do it myself after u release teh tut, its worth it so good luck and if u need help ask me here.

yeh its going to be really easy to use that in class with the nosy teahcer looking..

ya ive seen the ones with the permently attached ones and i liek the idea of one i can remove

and the only time youl need to use it is whenb your internal doesnt get enought strength so you dont need it all the time and its the only way youll get connection sometimes

little update for ya i put the jack together with the two cable and am currently supe gluing it down after its done drying i can get back to assembly

had a little problem with my new cable size had to massage some stuff but going good

all hell broke loose the cable was too big so i had to force it together then it wouldnt turn on so im gunan get some new cable and try later but first lets c if my psp isnt bricked

i just realized the reason it didnt turn on was that my battery was dead from earlier so i plugged it in and it all worked except the right d-pad button doesnt work so im gunan disaseemble and reassemble and c how it works fortunetly it seems al lthe other buttons work

did a tear down put back together and everything works now except i still have no internal antenna so im goign to go get some new wire and a new fitting tommorw and ill be good

sorry bout this guys i cna show u pics of waht i did with the fatty cable but youd need to replace it with a smaller cable i found that the cable off my antenna is about the same size as the one inside so if u find another atenna with thin wire get it for cable but im going to have to put moine on the back burner until i repay my tab at my elctronics store $115
