Mapthis! is a GPS navigational software tool for the PSP. You do not need a GPS unit to use it, but do of course need homebrew. I use it and it's pretty cool.

http://www.dcemu.co.uk/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=32582

You'll have to read everything and figure out how to extract the maps from Google Maps. It also helps to have a large memory stick. I would say 1gb minimum, but 2gb gives you a little more to play with. Transferring the program itself dosen't take too long, but the map files take a VERY long time to transfer over. Don't let this deter you; it's a very good program.

I have my own maps extracted of Vancouver. There's a bit of a learning curve, but nothing you can't handle.

gps is a add on piece of hardware (get it on ebay) then you need to run a homebrew called "map this". its great if you learn the software. mapquest is a net site though, so u need to be able to get to a wireless access point to use the website IF it runs on the psp. youre best bet is to just get a dedicated GPS unit for youre car since the psp one is buggy and awkward to use

I tried google maps on the PSP. Not enough memory. I assume mapquest would yield similar results.

Default Mapquest or GPS?

You guys had a guide!?

Argh, I do wish I had known about it about 3 weeks ago when I wracked my head trying to get a hybrid map of Vancouver onto my PSP.

a cheap dedicated car GPS unit wil run around $200 and actually work properly.. not to mention cost less then the psp. ($200 psp + $75 gps + $25 for car mount)

I would actually prefer to go this route because then you can actually connect the unit to the PSP to use Mapthis! if you really wanted to. Though if you did this, you would have to carry both around, but you would have high quality hybrid maps if you did this and have the best of both worlds. A stand alone GPS reciever tracks more accurately and quicker than the GPS add on by Sony as well.

This is why it should be sticked!!

People will really benefit from this guide if it were actually visible to them. I dont get why it isnt sticked, its a one ofo a kind guide and will be a good addition to teh tutorial library here at pspmod. and like Sevanyr said, its annoying trying to get it to work by reading thorough over 100 pages of forums (on dcemu).

and julie its 170 for psp + 50 for gps + 15, and i dont really count teh psp in teh calc because i got it as a gaming handheld to start with, and gps is an addon that costs 50 bucks.

P.S MapThis! 0499 now features sound and localization! You hear teh word "warning" when you go over the speed limit you preset and cursor tones have been added, what does this mean? Possibility of voice navigation! get Mapthis! 0499 @ http://www.rogepost.com/n/2451443057

P.S.S th sounds included are in mp3 format so you can copy what ever mp3 file u wanna play with cursor movements or over speed limit warning (mp3 files are in teh system folder.

P.S.S.S updated my tutorial with link to 0499 and changed some things based on teh feedback i got from dcemu and fixed expired download links.
