Fix ID-Storage Key?
So I was bored and decided to corrupt all of my ID-Storage keys on purpose. (I know but dont call me stupid cause if I wasnt sure that i could fix it I wouldnt have done it ) I found out that the UMD did not read, the USB did not function, the screen stayed black (obviously). But heres the catch I forgot to backup my ID-keys *kick himself in the butt* , so I used a backup from my other psp and it booted up but the UMD and brightness was all messed up. I had to Hex edit my own keys from an original backup of Keys I found on the net and it works fine. Everything is back to normal. So if anyone has any problems with there Keys just post here and Ill see if I can help.
If you dont know what ID-storage keys are or what they are used for than dont bother.

Fix ID-Storage Key?
I have a psp that wont read umds, the laser is fine as I put in several, but still no go, it lights up, moves from left to right and I know its working fine. This had 2.81 on it but I bought it as faulty ie umd not working. I downgraded it with my pandoras battery to 1.5, then sony v2.0, back to full sony 1.5 with MPH downgrader, then up to 3.52 M33 then M33-4.
I tried the key cleaner to see what was what, and it states PSP is a TA-079/81. Keystate Unpatched PSP. Keys check as fine, recommended action none.
Key 0008 it shows...No key.
All other functions work ok, its just that the umd wont show in the XMB.
I have a white psp so I ran the key cleaner on that one as its the same motherboard and the keys are exactly the same state as the one above, but the white one the umd works just fine...
What do you reckon I do next?
They are both on 3.52 M33-4.

Well there is no real way to check if your keys are all correct because when i flash my keys in they all read OK but there was obviously problems like the UMD giving me errors "Disc cannot be read" but all my keys read OK. I reflashed a few keys but I dont really recall which one it was but there was like four of them, 0x0004, 0x00041, 0x0043, 0x0046 I believe then my UMD was reading again. It is quite a complicated process. If you are to flash your ID-Storage always back up your keys, even if you back up your key there is still a chance of corruption.
So if you still want to do it just PM me and Ill help you out.

Yes please I would like to get if fixed. Plus learn something new about the psp.
I dont do anything without backing up files....
I dont get any errors on the psp screen in the xmb, the laser is moving and spinning the disc, I just get the busy icon in the bottom left.

Fix ID-Storage Key?
Ok everyone . NO MAC ADDRESS , NO MORE RUNNING GAMES , APP
FROM XMS --GAME --MEMORY STICK.
SInce today everything went well , games , waves , themes , u

TOday by mistake i've downgraded from 3.71 m33-3 to 1.5 v2
(372HX2150KernelAddon.rar) , OR AT LEAST I TRIED TO .
After this my psp freazed , than i realized my big mistake .
OK..NO PROBLEM . I've used pandora's battery to get back to
3.71 m33-2 . Everything went well , but when i tried to
update to 3.71 m33-3, surprize ! the error : "this game
cannot be started"-"the region code is not correct" .
Beside this , my mac address dissapeared , and i cannot run
anymore games , app , for everything I get the same message :
"this game cannot be started"-"the region code is not
correct"
Now, people , has anyone seen this before ? Is there any

1.I have besides my original battery , a pandora battery an a
magic stick
Using pandora battery , i've downgraded/upgraded back to
3.71 or 3.71 m33-2
TO upgrade to 3.71-m33 i've had to place the firmware to
\game\recovery and run it from recovery menu. It 's the only
way that works.
For example now I have 3.71 m33-4 , but that it does not
helping me at all . from game menu --memory stick , i cannot
acces , run , anything , and my mac address dissapeared
I/ve run key cleaner , again , i've run it from recovery
, it works , and i've got this messages
checking id storage key ....no key
unrecognized key state
It still does not worked for me .
Last thing , i've tried to put from recovery menu ---region
free ...it does not working..
Any ideas?
Thank you. |

They are both on 3.52 M33-4. | you already done all the necessary things to fix your ID STORAGE it seems that you have to change your UMD LENS and post result here.
or BACKUP the NAND_DUMP.BIN of your white psp then flash it to your other psp using pandora but the risk is very high that would be your last resort, but if you done it and it works you will now have the same MAC ADDRESS Quote:

Thank you. | it means that your ID STORAGE IS CORRUPTED be thankful that your psp still working. the patching of the KEY 5 which is your ID STORAGE fail while updating. i suggest do a HEX EDITING ON KEY 5 but the problem is you don't have the backup so we can't figure out what values should put on to it.
if backup your NANDUMP.BIN you can restore it back but it's very risky that would be your last resort.

Fix ID-Storage Key?
I did not do anymore about trying to fix this, as the umd is not required under m33 firmware.
I tried moving the laser lens assembly from left to right many times but I knew that the laser was working, it was not recognised by the psp.

I buy faulty psp's mainly non working umd drives.....I then remove the whole laser assembly, put cfw on then sell on to my workmates....so in effect I have created a lite version of the fat....LOL the difference is amazing...its so light.

Your psp is screwed no matter whos nand you use. The only way to get it back to its original state is to use your own ID-keys. Flashing another psp's nand and/or keys will not help you and only will cause you more complications if not a permanent brick in which even pandora will not help.
Although there are some options if you are knwlegdeable about ID-keys you can bring some functionality back to your psp. Read up on this thread and it will proly help you a bit.
Sorry I could not help you further as the ID-keys are much to complex to explain in just one sitting. http://lan.st/showthread.php?t=1430

Fix ID-Storage Key?
Very interesting stuff. I'm curious to know how you find out if your keys have been corrupted. I have a PSP I tried to load CFW on for a friend. The PSP was working right before I did this. When I tried to use the pandora battery and MMS on it, it turned on and nothing happened. Now it just powers on and sits there, I've tried a new screen thinking it was a dead screen but even that doesn't work. It has no UMD noise, no volume, no light on the screen, nothing but the power LED. I tried every possible solution to get this PSP to work again with no luck. Could it be that the keys are corrupted? If so is there any hope of fixing it, short of buying a new mobo. |
