dropped a custom firmwared psp, turns on....yet....
I had a modded psp, and i was shulffling some stuff in my back pack when it dropped. It was inside the psp pouch that came with the psp. I say it dropped about 4.5 ft to a tile ground. I picked it up and turned it on, the green light goes on, but the screen stays black. Thinking it was the screen that broke, i pressed the volume button until it seemed like it was at maxed, didn't hear music or any sound effects. I remembered that since it was custom firmware, it took a while to start up, waited 10 minutes and nothing happened. What's wrong with my psp, is there a way to reset it to default settings. I took out the battery for 30 minutes and put it back in and it had the same problem. Please help, any would be awesome. Thanks. |

can you get to recovery at all? Does the backlight turn on, or is the screen completely dark? If theres no backlight, you probably broke the screen somehow, if the light does come on, you messed up something else.

yeah, the screen backlight doesn't light up for anything, looks exactly the same as when its off, man...i dont want to get a new psp, if i did i would get the slim one cause of all the new gismos, but i want to be able to play homebrew games, and it seems like a big ol hassle to do that on the slim. arg. |

Sounds almost the same as my problem. Check out the thread labeled "PSP powers on but won't turn off.
If you have any luck let me know. I'll do the same if I can find out anything. |

Ok I just want to be clear.
1. I dropped my PSP from about 6 feet.
2. It turns on, but displays nothing, not even a light, has no sound, UMD drive makes absolutely no noise with a game or movie in it, and it will not turn off without holding the power button up for a few seconds or removing the battery.
4. dr2real- are these the same symptoms you have?
5. Crossing- are these are the symptoms you had for your PSP and it was bricked?
So I may possibly just have a bricked PSP and I may be able to recover with a pandora batt? This brings me hope. I was considering trying the pandora method anyway as a last ditch effort. But my PSP does not have CFW. |

I don't think its a brick
Its was physical damage that stopped it from working not trying to do a mod or flash a theme. Sounds like more of a hardware problem
I have a psp as well that I can't get going, I bought it off ebay just cause i wanted one to play with and open up. It doesn't turn on, but with the pandora battery in it, the power button just sits and blinks for a split second, I think a new power board will do the trick but i'm not sure...
A developer needs to come up with some sort of diagnostic hombrew that will allow you to usb it to your computer and have it run a test on it, find out whats working and what isn't, that would be the best

you might of broke the mobo, your out of luck if your short of cash for one if them, they go for like £50 on ebay that about $80 if your american, and then you have to downgrade again, when i bust my psp's mobo i was in look as i knew someone that got me one for £20, much better than £50, look for a computer gameshop that has like a second hand computer section, they might know how to get a "for repair" psp mobo for cheap
it dont sound like a brick cos to brick you need to alter the flash you cant alter the flash from dropping it, you can only break it |
