A little late on the bandwagon but hey!
Its past the susposed "release date" has anyone dove in?
Anyway I think they are full of shit, heres why:
The installation is described as "does not require any soldering, but you will need to replace some of the wires on the motherboard" Ok, lets think about this..... I used to test circuit boards for a living, now, think about this the psp mainboard as shown here:
Ok, nottice that all the chips are all very small surface mounties, and everything is very crowded like a laptop. Also, nottice there are no wires on the mainboad, even if there where they would be soldered onto the board as I have NEVER seen an internal board with wire plugs. And I seriously doubt that they would have you flywire it as that is not exactly the safest way to go abouts it.
Now, think about the size of the internal components of the PSP, look how big that UMD drive is. Oh and not to mention the screen and control sticks take up about 40% of the space, with the last 60 being used up by the mainboard umd drive, battery and other whatnot. look at the picture they released.
Hrm...... if thats the end of a soldering pencil, which is kinda what it looks like (cant tell for sure because of thier terrible quality) which would make the chip about 2"x2" and god knows how thick... Where in gods name that gunna go? What components would you have to take out to get that to work? Would it mount on the outside? Who are these nuts? All valid questions.
I could keep going but I think I have said enough, I just hope someone proves me wrong, I want to upgrade as much as the rest of you.
