Buying a PSP Need suggestions!!!
I am planning on buying a psp, but need some help:
I want to run homebrews on my psp, and eventually backup some of my discs onto the memory stick so that I don't have to carry around multiple discs with me all the time
Should I buy an older fat psp with 1.5 firmware already on it? (from ebay)
Or can I buy a slim psp and do the thing myself? I guess I'd have to buy the pandoras battery I've been reading about, but how difficult is all of this? The way I look at it is the older fat psp is already older technology, so it would probably make sense to buy the slim one right?
But the slim ones are harder to mod from what i read?
I really want to get one soon, the psp's look real sweet and I want to get my hands on one, give me some suggestions!!!
(and if this is the wrong section for this let me know, or the mods can simply move it) |

If you want to run homebrews, and iso's and stuff, I would definitely tell you to grab an Fat psp. But you would need a psp that has already been modded so create the pandora battery. Also be very weary of the psp's you grab off of Ebay. Some of the psp on there are bricked and can't be rebooted even with the Pandora Battery. The psp slim is nice too, but there is still so much more that needs to be done to get the slim where the Fat psp is now. If your willing to wait a while, the slim should be the way to go in a few months to a year....lol |

Well this is what I was looking at:
eBay item 140197042008
(i cant post a link because i dont have enough points, but if you could check it out for me that'd be great)
He says because its a 1.5 i would just need to start loading the homebrews
and isos right on the memory stick, its already good to go, nothing else needed
is this true? |

Two of my friends bought off ebay. Both of the PSP were fatties and they worked fine when they got them. They both payed under a hundred bucks, but the conditions were not great. I would make sure you read the description very well and understand what you are getting with the price being asked.
-- i just checked out that psp auction. You can probably get the same thing for the same price minus the shipping at a local GameStop. Buying from a gamestop would allow you to return or exchange it if it was to fail for any reason.

I would suggest getting a psp slim. They are easier to mod then the phat psp and have better features. The only things the phat psp has that the slim doesn't is an easily removable analog nub, IR, and the 1.5 kernal. Sony is going to eventually start releasing things for the psp slim only as well. If you need help with the Pandoras Battery and or MMS you can send me a PM. If you want some more information on the differences between the phat psp and the psp slim you can find it here: (SLIM vs. PHAT)

You know where to get a psp slim with a Pandoras Battery for $60? Either the psp is messed up or you are a liar.

I would suggest getting PSP Slim too. Modding them does not seem that hard, as long as you have a Pandora's battery. Plus you can expect many of the Sony additions to work only on them, like with Skype. |

Get the PSP Slim and a Datel battery tool. 25 dollars for said battery, for both the Slim and Phat.
