Do I have a brick?
Hello all. New here. I have a PSP that one day decided it didn't want to recharge or power up anymore. It's completely dead. I didn't do anything wrong like drop it or anything. I just went to recharge it. The battery wasn't dead yet. My PSP hardly gets played. I used it about 2-3 times a week to play one game in my bedroom when I want to take 10 minutes to myself and get away from the kids.
What annoys me is that I had to return my original PSP because of a faulty UMD holder latch. I was sent this factory certified one and it has lasted about 6 months and is now dead. Sony wants $90 to exchange for another factory certified refurbished unit. Screw that.
Any advice would gladly be appreciated. Thank you. |

If it still runs fine with the charger plugged in, then I would try another battery.
Also,....Try it with just the charger plugged in to see if it works.

When I say dead, I mean it doesn't even work with the charger plugged in. The day I went to recharge it, I noticed the light didn't come on. I powered it on, it came on, so I turned it off and figured I'll leave it to recharge overnight. Next day...nothing. No power, nothing, nada, zip, zilch... |

Try buying a different battery, that could be the problem. |

You guys must have skipped over the first sentence where I said it doesn't even work with the charger plugged in.
It doesn't work. Charger in. Charger out. Battery in. Battery out. Nothing.
I mailed it to Techrestore today. We'll see what they say. |

POS. And it was supposedly a "Factory Certified" unit sent to me from Sony when my original one had a bad latching mechanism. Only had it for a few months. So much for their factory certification. And they wanted me to pay $90 to buy another FC unit. Jigga pleeze! |

(leaving it out in the heat/cold or possibly one of the kids got a hold of it) Anyways why the fuck would you have to pay $90 just to get it replaced? I could take my psp back right now and get an exchange for free. Take it back to the store. Could your psp possibly have gotten moisture in it somehow?

I hope for $90 you'll get it fixed,...if not spend another $100 and get a second hand unit.
Have fun bud.

My original PSP was within the 1 year warranty timeframe. They send you a factory refurbished unit and it has a 90 day warranty. My refurbished POS was past the 90 days.
The thing is kept in immaculate condition. When I don't play it, it goes in its protective sleeve and into a drawer in my room away from the kids. The thing couldn't have had a better life. |
