1st post, my psp slim bricked? Help please.
Hi guys, I totaly new to PSP's & this forum, I just bought my first PSP today. It is a used PSP slim I got off of eBay and in the description it says, "This unit does not power on. The green power light will stay on for less than a second, then shuts off." My question is what could the possible problems be for the unit not powering on? Is this what they refer to as being "bricked"? Is there a way to fix this? I have heard something about a "Pandora's battery" or something like that being able to fix bricked PSP's, but I know nothing about it..What should my first move be? I have been searching and reading up as much as I can, but I have ALOT to learn.. Any info would be greatly appreciated..THANKS!!... I just noticed I may have posted this topic in the wrong section..If so I am sorry...Could it be moved if it is? Thanks

Well I'm not 100% with slim bricks, so you might want to ask someone else. But with fat bricks, the backlight turns on, and the green light for 15 seconds, then finally turns off.

All posting aside, I think its fully bricked. If I'm not mistaken a pandora battery with a magic memory stick would fix the problem.
Not to offend you but since you say you are a noob, I'll explain these.
Pandora battery= a moddified battery that ,from what I beleive, has forgotted the firmware version of a psp.
Magic memory stick= a regular memory card that is made into a bootable memory card that has the files needed to downgrade and unbrick psp's.
My suggestion to you is to try to invest in a used psp battery, and get a memory stick bigger than a 512mb and use this guide. http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-har...ew-method.html (GUIDE TO::Making Pandora's Battery (*new method*))

OK, I now know how to make a Pandora battery, and I'm still learning about making the magic memory stick. I'm looking at two different places on how to do this. One is from the above link that was given to me and for this site & seems somewhat easier or less confusing, the other site is a afterdawn site that shows how to make a Pandora Battery & magic memory stick that will install or unbrick a PSP to 3.71 M33-2 custom firmware.. This seems much more difficult for some reason..Maybe just the way they have it wrote out, but seems like there is more steps to it. I have no clue as to what firmware is on this PSP..& so far (still learning) not a clue what this 3.71 M33-2 custom firmware is good for. Ultimately I want to unbrick this PSP and have it to where I can save and play my games from my memory sticks...Not sure which way to go here. I guess I will try the easier way from this site first ""Process #2: Creating the Magic Memory Stick with a bricked psp"" and see if it works, although I dont know what firmware it downgrades to. Then try to upgrade to the firmware I need to be satisfied later..either way I still have alot of reading and learning to do...so off I go..any other suggestion, info, or comments? Thanks guys for helping a total newb..joe |

The thing with buying something USED from Ebay is that you don't really know exactly what happened to it.
It could be bricked because the person spilled something on it or dropped it.
[[Treated the system poorly]]
From what I've been told, a Pandora Battery and a Magic M-Stick only unbrick a system that has been bricked due to something in the Firmware.
Best of Luck.
And if you don't mind me asking, how much did you get it ferrrrr? |
