Default "Usb device Not Recognized"

Ok, this is really annoying me now, whenever i try and activate usb mode on psp, i get "usb device not recognized" and its being listed as an unknown device in the device manager

its not the usb cable as it works on my other computer, but i have all my music on this pc so i need to use psp with this one.

i have re installed the drivers, same problem

i've tried unplugging the pc power supply as some sites suggested but still not working

i've looked over numerous sites and still cant get it to work

any ideas? this is really annoying me now, please help

btw my system specs are
windows xp professional service pack 2
athlon xp 3000+
768mb ram

Ive had the same problem befor. This may sound abit stupid but trust me it worked for me. Go into the bios when the computer boots and set it to USB 1.1 instead of USB 2.0. Not sure if it will work in your case but give it a try.

Im using Windows Xp Pro. Windows Xp would not reconize any of my usb devices so i started the bios when the computer booted and when to usb setting and changed it to USB 1.1 and it worked but says this device can run faster on USB 2.0 but it still tranfered stuff fine and at a reasonable speed.

The sony site wont have driver for xp if it has drivers anyway. Windows XP doesnt require drivers for devices like psp because its a removable hard disk.

The reason it probably doesnt have speed settings in your bios is the maker of the motherboard or the version of bios your system is running.

I also agree if the problem keeps occuring buy a flash card reader or try reinstalling xp on the computer.

make sure you have the latest USB drivers installed. even though xp is supposed to support most things out of the box it still needs tons of updates. go to hardware profile and scroll down to your usb, doubleclick and choose update driver. it will download the latest drivers for your usb-host
