Default 4GB hard drive/battery for psp

hey i was just curious to know if anyone knew if there are any compatibility issues for CFW with this 4gb hard drive they have out now.they claim it to be a hard drive and a battery.so would that mean i could have 8 gigs of mem with my sony 4 gb and this hard drive?or would i have to use just one at a time. Thanks

Default 4GB hard drive/battery for psp

I have the datel one - it came as two devices, a 3600mAh battery - (GREAT I LOVE IT) and a 4GB Compact Flash HDD (which I modded to made it a reader for more HDDs). The HDD connects to the back of the PSP screw holes via plastic pegs and it plugs in to the PSP (interfaces with it) via a ribbon cable with memory stick adaptor that plugs in to the PSP via the sav slot as a memory stick via..via..via..Viva Las Vegas! - Ehem, sorry.

The package should not cost you for than 60 bux by today's standards and the HDD is slower than a memstick. The battery is well work it though. and the extra 4GBs is good enough for homebrew.

It's both. Or should I say it's a CF Microdrive. It has so many names.

CF Microdrive Definition

Definition of: Microdrive

An ultra-miniature hard disk from Hitachi Global Systems. The Microdrive was developed and introduced by IBM in 1998 and acquired by Hitachi in 2002. The Microdrive uses a single platter the size of an American quarter that holds up to 8GB. Using one or two GMR heads, the entire mechanism is built into a Type II CompactFlash form factor.

- That hdd in umd hack is certainly missing a guide. I have a feeling the hacker got a job and owns the exclusive rights and maybe cashing in on it somewhere. That's my suspision. But anyway, it's done with a hacked ipod. The ipod OS is hacked and reprorammed with some minimul linux kernal that runs a USB server much in the way USBHost works between a pc and psp in irshell. The ipod os is the communication mediator between the PSP and the ipod hdd. It would be a real sweet solution for the folks who are suffering from their umd drives going bad. Trust me "Everyone" is waiting for the guide...

Sweet. I have a general idea of how it works but as far as programming chips or writing code, I'm lost.
