Ok to install custom firmware on your psp you will need two things...

1) Pandora Battery :-You can purchase Datel tool battery or you can hard Mod your battery to pandora
Usefull links for Hard Mod - http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-har...ery-guide.html (Easy-To-Use Pandora's Battery Guide)
http://www.pspmod.com/forums/hardwar...-hard-mod.html (How-To: Switchable Pandora PSP-Slim Battery (Hard-Mod))

2) Magic Memory Stick :- You can use cat50's magic memory stick creator to create mms http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-new...t-one-yet.html ([Release] Catb50's Ultimate Magic Memory Stick Creator v3.0 (The BEST one Yet))

........ Once you have both the things .... Insert the MMS and then Pandora battery ..... And press X to install the CFW

There were few other older methods that worked on Phat PSP with older firmware version .......... But i'm pretty sure that the firmware which you are on right now, the pandora battery and mms is the only way
.......... Oh and one more thing about pandora battery ........ If you have a friend running custom firmware on his psp, then you can softmod the battery to pandora (i.e if the battery is not soft-mod pandora proof) ........ Try searching on google for soft mod for more on that.

Nope ............ Infact PSP slim can only be modified using Pandora battery & MMS .......... No older methods work on PSP Slim, no matter what official firmware it's running.

Yeah it sure is pain in the ass to install CFW in PSP......... But for what you get and do with CFW in your PSP,.. it's definitely worth the pain
