Paranoid newbie with a couple of questions

I bought a Slim PSP a couple of weeks ago and would like to mod it. I have cracked open the battery and attempted the reversible hack in which the two pins are connected together with a tiny piece of wire connected between them. I then created my Magic Memory Stick and followed the instructions for setting up the firmware install. Nothing happens, the PSP just boots normally. I have tried a couple of methods for creating the Magic Memory Stick and as far as that part is concerned, it appears to go perfectly, so I don't think it's that. I think my Pandora Battery creating is failing.

Now, I am thinking about doing the scratching out the line to the pin with a stanley knife method, but am reluctant in case I kill my battery and have to fork out for a new one. I guess my question is thus. If I scratch out the line connecting the pin that needs disabling and it still doesn't work (i.e. no Pandora), will the battery still work as normal or could it possibly be destroyed? I know exactly which area on the circuit board I am supposed to cut, so it wouldn't be because of me slicing the wrong part. If there is a risk, I think I would rather just buy one of the battery "tools" that put the PSP into the service mode.

Any advice much appreciated.

cut the line, you can make it as it were before buy using a pencil to reconnect the circuitry.

... just do it.. well the risk is (no offense intended) is if u cut 2 hard or 2 many times and i suggest irshell rite off the bat and update to 3.90m33 thats the newest firmware irshell works on go to irshell.org to download and the instructions if i didn't remember wrong is with the file

if ur playing iso's
u gonna need the newest patch
and u need to run the patch on the psp in the 3.9 folder in the patch the prx folder it doesn't say in the readme in the folder im not sure which one... it's the bigger one tho it took me a long time to figure this out

if you don't mind shelling like $10.50 for one from dealextreme.com, at least is cheaper than a new battery, or buy a used one at gamestop, they are only like $5 and hack away to it

If you are trying to make a pandora. You cut the wire and the battery dosent work as a normal one right? it needs charger? If it does let the battery charge for a day or two (mine took a night and a bit of the morning) Once your pandora does charge up the screan should turn black and the white writing from the files on your mem stick comes up.

Just make sure its fully charged b4 u go nuts

If you scratch out that trace you will have a Pandora battery. It won't work for anything except installing the MMS. To reverse the process draw over the trace a few times with a normal pencil. The graphite is enough of a conductor to restore the connection.
