Um... PSPs don't get viruses. Their "anti virus" is so incredibly weak it just skips directly to brick or BSOD.

Default Slim PSP Screen won't display anything but psp still works

Ok, so I finally find the right screwdriver and take the faceplate off.
I was curious and put the battery back in and presto! the screen is on without doing anything...could something be loose or tight that would cause the screen to not display while the faceplate is on?
I'm gonna keep looking inside for a bit.
Thanks for the useful information guys.

Check the cables! They may be loose. If not, try putting slight pressure on the bottom edge of the screen and see what happens - sometimes the faceplate pinches too tight and screws with the panel. In other cases, the ribbon connection to the panel itself is loose (as with one of mine) and no matter of fiddling will give a reliable screen...

EDIT - make sure you pop the home bar off before trying to remove the screen.

I looked at the cables and everything looked connected.
However I took off the screen and re-connected it just to make sure.
So far I can't get the lcd to display again.
I've looked very closely at the ribbon cables and I dont see any markings, tears or the like. Looked at the connection on the mobo and nothing seems amiss there as well...
I'm baffled as to what is causing the problem.

Hmm... I'm guessing it's the connection between the ribbon cable and the panel itself...Try putting pressure on the bottom edge and sides of the screen (not at the same time) with the PSP on and see what happens - The screen is an intricate glass sandwich and very sensitive to slight changes...If you see an image while putting pressure in various places, your panel is shot...New screens run ~$60 shipped, lots of them on ebay...~$50 on dealextreme. Note, don't cheap out - Slim screens are twice the price of fat screens, so if you find one for around $35 it's more than likely a fat screen.

But the lights around the screen come on just fine...it's the Lcd itself that won't display an image. How does the backlight fuse correlate?

Whomever said virus/brick: Epic fail.

It's a connection most likely. I'd heat everything up with a soldering iron that might be to blame, maybe re-solder shifty looking stuff. Check all the connections, etc.

If it did work for a while how the hell can anything be broken?
