Default Umd not working!

My psps umd drive is not working. I bought a new umd drive and installed it and it still doesnt work. When you turn the psp on , the umd drive runs and does wierd things and makes sounds even if there is no umd inserted. I think there is something wrong with my idstorage or something . If it is, i have no idea how to fix it!!
