Pandora battery and TA88v3.
I totally agree with you Gameguy1. That's the best method to go about getting a modded PSP. I bought a PSP online that ended up having a TA88-v3 inside and couldn't return it. It was my first PSP modding experience, and it was NOT A GOOD ONE. Had similar experience to Amblin - modded battery doesn't work as a pandora; stays regular. Turned out I had both a non-moddable battery, and a non-moddable PSP (ta88v3 as stated above). I wonder how they changed the chip layout in the new batteries.... Perhaps they started making the chip that reads the serial key have a different pin layout. Sounds like more people are getting this combo!
Bad bad bad... Sony just won't give up will it. Well.... We just have to wait for Dark_Alex or the Chinese to make some uber awesome moves hehehe. Then we be good to go!
edit: Oh, also, don't forget the limited edition PSPs that are gauranteed to have certain Mobos and bats! I bought a limited edition Daxter PSP and everything worked like a dream (well, my dreams kind-of suck, so better than a dream). Daxter PSPs can be bought on Newegg still I believe for $200, and come with a mem-stick and a game+a few family guy episodes =)
