Default PSP + 8gb question HELP

Hi

I've been meaning to get a PSP for quite a long time now because all of my cousins have PSPs and have wowed me with their modded ones. Anyway, I think I'm ready to buy one and the main reason is to have old retro games (snes/ps1) on the go.

Anyway, I'm planning to buy a used fat PSP for 99$. I'm a little hesitant about the whole thing because I don't want to throw my money away but my real dilemma is the memory stick.

I'm want to get this 8gb memory stick because it's only 60$ from future shop. I can't post the URL yet but its a Sony 8gb Memory Stick Pro Duo Mark2.

However, I've read some of these posts and I'm still confused about the whole thing...

Will the 8gb work fine with a modded fat PSP? I've read that it has a limit or something of 4gb, and that you'd need to upgrade the firmware in order for the psp to recognize the 8gb one....but doesn't upgrading the firmware ruin the whole modded thing? I think one of my friends upgraded the firmware for his modded PSP and it unmodded...

I really want things to work out, so I just want to make sure if everything will work perfectly fine. Basically I see myself with a fat PSP (heard the older the model, the better for modding) with an 8gb memory stick, able to play PSP/GBA/SNES/PS1 games without too much trouble..

Thanks to anyone who can answer any of my concerns

Well the rumor is that you can't make a Magic Memory Stick with anything above a 4gb stick, but I've heard people say that's not true (I can't say for sure myself)

The 8gb will work fine as long as it's real, just get a 1gb stick or something to use as the MMS

Oh ic ic

The sale ends in a couple of days though, so that's why I want to get the 8gb before the price jacks up again.

just buy a small sandisc 256mb for the MMS that way if you have issues with your psp you always have the MMS to get you back on track.
Bewood is right you cant MMS an 8gb duostick.. plus look on ebay for 8gb. i got mine from china ( genuine sandisc ) for only 20 ( us $35 ) def worth a look. plus it only took 4 days to arrive... def cheaper than any shop.

Default PSP + 8gb question HELP

why not ebay.com ( america ) is one thing. ebay.co.uk is def another..
many genuine companies use it as a portal to their sites and sell genuine sony / sandisc items. all 100% so why not save a little cash esp as most of them will ship for a minimal amount. I agree there are some dodgy sellers. but just do some research first. check the feedback etc.

Why not buy mem sticks from ebay????

I brought my 4GB Sony High speed card for £9.89 and that includes signed for deli! On arrival it has a full five year warrenty and the orginial receipt.

I think as long as the seller has a decent rating then go for it!

I am currently looking for a 16GB and are looking at around £35 on ebay, I dont even want to think of the retail!!!!
