Does the outside look like the original psp battery. If it doesnt I do not think you can convert it into a pandora battery.

Yes there is a way to make your official sony battery a pandora battery.

1: make sure it is able to be turned into a pandora.
2: Lift the leg off of the chip
3: install CFW using pandora
4: Solder the leg back on OR lower the leg making sure there is contact.
or
5: Do what I did and just put a huge glop of solder on the spot where the leg was (i messed up soldering but it still worked). <-- I might not recommend that one =P

Well if you saw smoke, you shorted or damaged something. I personally would never use the battery again, not worth the risk of a fire.

Did you use a sharp knife? I really wish all the guides for this did not show using a sharp knife its the worst idea. I use a dull butter knife, way more leverage and you wont slip and cut anything that way. Just wiggle it in on one side and pry hard, then it pops open.

Mine smoked, and I even threw it at the wall.

It's been 5 months later and it has yet to burst into flames.

Yeah, I modded the battery that came with my slim, and bought an extra off e-bay incase I botched it... it sucks. The damn thing doesn't hold a charge worth a damn (I didn't botch my mod btw, so this one is a back-up when the other is charging). It only stays charged for about 4 hours. One minute the indicator will show about 50%, the next it's dead. Pisses me off everytime I'm in the middle of a game I haven't saved, and have to go through pluging it in to change the battery so I don't lose my info!

i know with psp4noobs you can make a pandora's batt. then, back up the serial info for the proms? i think. then put it back on the battery to restore it! no hard-mod at all! it's pretty cool.
