Default Time to start hacking

Hello people that can hopefully help me. I've had my psp for like a year and a half and I really don't feel like I've gotten good use out of it, so I've decided to give the homebrew/hacking stuff a try. I have the old school fat psp, and it has 3.73 firmware on it. I found this but I have a couple questions:

An LED Pandora battery with an 8 gig sony memory stick that already has custom firmware and instructions on how to do it.

1. I'm pretty good with computers, but I've never tried hacking a psp. Is this a good deal, and could I find a better deal if I did some of the work myself?

2. Can I use that magic memory stick for memory purposes after I've used it for the firmware update?

3. If so, is it easy to rip games to a stick and about how big is a psp game?

4. Is the LED battery worht it? Does it work well in normal mode?

5. I've heard bad things about sony memory sticks, like they take longer to read data or something. So if I had a psp game ripped to the sony stick, would all the load times be long?

6. Anything else a noob should know about?

1.mmses cant run on 8 gig sticks from what i understand so thats kinda bogus.follow my guide 1st link in my signature to help you get cfw easy, and cheap.

2.yes you can as it doesnt rewrite the stick.it just adds files for the psp to recognize.

3.psp games can be as low as a couple hundred megs or so and run to close to 2 gigs(umd capacity)

4.never tried the led battery so i wouldnt be able to say.again refer to my guide,or you can also by a pandora from dealextreme.com

5.not nessecarily but i find micro sdhcs to be faster with adapters.again refer to my signature(2nd link) for info on that.

6.as far as making it custom firmware, not really.as far as anything else goes, perhaps.the psp scene and all its homebrew glory is very massive.

need any further help, feel free to ask!
