Default Dead or Stuck pixel?

Ok, I'm a little confused about a pixel on my screen... it looks like just the green part of the pixel is dead. But the blue and red parts are still working just fine. When I view a screen of solid green or solid white, the pixel looks dark red or maybe black, but when I view a screen of solid blue or solid red, the pixel is normal and doesn't look dead at all (in fact I can't even locate it) but when I view a screen of solid black, it doesn't light up red like a stuck pixel would...

So is it a stuck pixel or a pixel with just the green part dead? Is that fixable with a video file or no? (I'm assuming no.) How disappointing... I just got the PSP today. And it's a Daxter bundle that was sealed, it would be hard to find another at a decent price... I don't want to send it to Sony (if they would even have anything to do with it) for fear of getting a nonhackable psp when they sent it back, I can't send it back to where I got it, because they won't exchange or return, and I'm scared to buy a replacement LCD off dealextreme because the reviews suggest a very high rate of dead pixels...

Does anyone here know where I could buy a replacement LCD at a decent price that's pretty reliable about not having dead/stuck pixels? Also, the backlight is fine, so if I were to replace the LCD could I buy one without the backlight or would I need to buy one with a backlight?

Here you can see when it's displaying green on the screen. The red pixel is still lit up but not the green...

IMG_1701.JPGIMG_1702.JPG
In these you can see when it's displaying blue on the screen, the blue pixel is lit but not the green.

And in this one (I think the screen was purple) you can see the red and blue pixels are both on and green off.

Sorry, It's a lot of questions for 1 thread, and the pictures aren't that great, but I would appreciate any help I could get! Thanks!

I bought it from someone on ebay. I'll try my luck with sending them a message I guess...

Are you sure that he didn't write anything about the pixel? maybe that's the reason why he/she sold it..

Default Dead or Stuck pixel?

There is a video file somewhere that best buy distributes for LCD tv's and monitors, it basicly just flashes a crap load of colors really fast for about 30 seconds, works with stuck pixels. I would try that out before trying to return it (my slim gets them all the time).

If you can't find it, let me know and I'll upload the file, just real busy at the moment to do anything.

Default Dead or Stuck pixel?

no, it definitely wasn't in the listing, because the psp was still sealed in the plastic carton in the box, so the seller couldn't have known about it...

i messaged him but no reply yet and I'm sure he won't exchange it. he just had one listed, so i don't know if he has more or not.

I played one of those flashing videos to fix stuck pixels for a few hours yesterday but it didn't help. I'm going to just try to not let it bother me and if I find myself with an excess of money one of these days I'll order a replacement lcd... my luck i'd get a replacement lcd with more dead pixels than this one.

It's just 1 pixel and just 1 color of that pixel and it's so out of the way that while I'm playing i don't even see it. I only see it when i'm in the home screen. While I'm playing i have to pretty much put the screen up to my face and look for a while to see it... I'm pretty sure it is a partially dead pixel and not a stuck pixel. Oh well...

Thanks for the info, guys.

EDIT: A little update... the seller got back to me and he's going to order another daxter pack and exchange it for me! Awesome, he's going to get great feedback! Not many people will work with a customer over something like a dead pixel. I know it's finicky of me, but I don't think it's wrong to want something that's brand new sealed in the box to be perfect! Yay, I am happy, now.

Default Dead or Stuck pixel?

I am right now, but this one looks dead dead, not half dead or stuck.

Oh well... is a single dead pixel really noticeable when you're actually playing? I only really see it when I'm sitting at a screen. If I look at it from certain angles I can actually make it disappear. Is that normal with dead pixels or is it maybe a speck of dust or something?

Hmm...

The more I look at it... the more I think it's a piece of dust... If I tilt it away and towards me I see it going through different parts of the picture... Maybe I'll try to snap a couple pics and see if I can capture it...

I guess it's time to order a torx screwdriver off Dealextreme (or whatever they're called...)

Ok, looked at my psp more and maybe I don't need to order a screwdriver... looks like phillips.
