2gb Memory Card Issue
Ok so I have used the search engine and sifted through roughly 12 pages of threads...only some of them were (vaguely) on my topic but none of it helped. If there is a great thread for this topic please show me because I looked around plenty.
Here is my problem:
I transfer data (mp3's in my case but it shouldnt matter) onto my memory card.
I fill it up to about 1.8 gigs (2,000,000 some odd bytes) and it all fits.
I go to look through them and all of a sudden the last batch of albums have NO songs in them and the album before the first empty one has currupt files.
The part that pissed me off the most is when i go to delete all the songs to start over, it sais I still have 980megs used up!!! After I reformatted it, that went away...but I'm sure it has to do with the currupt files.
Similar problem happened with some Run UMD files I was playing with, trying to get my copy of syphon filter to work. I drag the files and magically when I go to look in the folders I just transfered half the folders are empty.
Is this a USB problem or a memory card problem? How many times have you seen or heard about this happening?
Is there a fix besides getting a new card?
I will keep trying and messing with stuff, but someone please help im going nuts. |

2gb Memory Card Issue
It's a Sony MS Pro Duo 2gb, brand new sealed and everything.
I got it from ebay, and yes I know it's a gamble but I know the seller from a previous purchase. He is not the type who would sell something that isn't legit.
Since I last posted I tried reformating again, and dragging my mp3s again. Same problem and it was with about 1/4 less albums. I honestly have no idea what it could be.
Another more techy question, just out of curiousity:
What is causing my psp/computer to say it is full when i manually deleted everything?
I know it's not hidden files, that's just silly. (some jackass from another site responded to this question with that) |

2gb Memory Card Issue
Well I'll have to take it up with him then, weird though because I bought a hard drive from him before (WD 80gb) for my pc and there were no problems. This would mark the first time I have ever had a problem through ebay...damn I was doing so good.
On the subject of my file transfers:
I dragged a much smaller amount of mp3's and it worked (680mb worth).
I'm too scared to try to load the rest on, I'm too tired to go through all that again. I'll let you know tomorrow.
Do they really sell imitation sony products that detailed? Complete with the packaging and decals on the memory stick? Seems like a lot of effort just to get a couple extra bucks out of someone. Unless I am missing something. |

It could also be a proble with the usb cable. If you are transferring alot of data at the same time and the cable is a little loose or faulty, you have to potential for file corruption. Does the same thing happen with other memory cards? (if you happen to have other cards to test with). I would suggest attempting this with another cable before you go trying to return the card or anything. Just my advice |

2gb Memory Card Issue
Well it most deffinitely plays all the stuff that gets on the card, so I think I like the faulty USB cable idea way more then being scammed haha. Sadly I dont have another big memory card to try it with, just my 32mb waist of space. My roomate has a USB cable, ill give his a shot when he gets home from work. |

2gb Memory Card Issue
Well I had the same problem with erasing data but the comp and psp still thinks its being used up. It only does this when I erase files using a iBook G4, when I use my home PC it works just fine. Are you using a mac with your psp? |

Sadly, no other usb cable to try. My roomate doesn't have his anymore. I am using a PC not a Mac.
This sucks, I have no other memory cards and no other usb cables to troubleshoot with. |

Idea...
Make sure that you aren't putting your mp3s into folders inside folders. I know I like to organize that way myself, and the PSP doesn't like the windows file structure.
Basically, if you can play your mp3s off the psp's memory stick thru your computer while it's attached to usb as a hdd, the files are good to go, just need to be "reorganized".
I doubt this will help at all, but it's an idea I hadn't seen tossed out there yet.
