Just ruined my second PSP? In dire need of help!
Hello.
About a year ago, my PSP bricked when I tried to upgrade a firmware (its screen was permanently black whenever I turned it on), and I have not been able to fix it since, despite even handing it over to a shop for fixing only to have it returned unfixed a week later.
Now, due to the release of a game I've been waiting for for months, I asked a friend to borrow his PSP, promising that I would be much more careful this time around. And indeed, I was - I re-read every instruction to make sure everything I did was relatively safe. And now, while trying to upgrade to 5.0 MM3, I rebooted the PSP and... the screen was permanently black. It's the exact same thing that happened to me a year ago.
I'm absolutely terrified. Ruining my own PSP is one thing, but ruining my best friend's, especially when he uses it so much, concerns me very much. It is a fat PSP, bought about 2 years ago.
Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm really dying for help. I don't know what to do.
Thank you in advance. |

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
I've watched a few tutorials. After I open up my battery and make it a pandora battery and use the magic memory stick, will I be able to fix the problem? Also, will I need any external accessories?
One last question - I've watched the MMS tutorial, and one of the required steps is to enter USB mode in the PSP... seeing as my PSP is bricked and I can't select the USB mode, will I be able to go through the process anyway? |

Alright. A few last things:
1. Can I not unbrick my PSP by making a pandora battery alone? Do I have to have both that and a MMS?
2. This is going to be an extremely technical question, but - I've been trying to remove that specific pin in the battery for over 3 hours, to no avail - all I've done is flattened it. The problem is that, from what I read from other people's experiences, using anything metallic pretty much fries your batter, so what I am using is toothpicks, which simply isn't a small enough object for the pin, and also ends up breaking constantly. I just can't figure out how to get it removed, much less in its current flattened state.
I know my questions are a hassle, and I'm truly sorry, but I really am quite desperate at the moment and am trying to do whatever I can (with the minimal amount of knowledge I have on the subject) before forking out $400 for a new PSP (which is what a PSP costs over here).
Thank you very much. |

Thank you very much. | 1, yes, the pandora does not have the firmware in it, you have to have a mms to install the firmware from.
2, i used a metal box cutter, but i scraped it so idk, the guide i had used said to use a diaper pin.
and its ok, its why this site exsits

I keep trying to remove the chip, but since it's gotten so flat it's become near impossible. Is there supposed to be an empty green space after removing the chip, like it was never even there?
Here is a picture of what it looks like now:
I think the chip is pretty much demolished at this point, but since I don't have the MMS yet I don't know if that would work. Any tips? |

i have a spare which i use for a normal battery. im pretty sure to test if it has been 'changed' you could pop it in and see if the power led lights up automaticly, im pretty sure that would definately be a pandora, as thats how pandoras act.
(unless by breaking it it would make it turn on automaticly)
for making a mms may i suggest 'Rains ultra lite mms maker' google it |

Also, to clarify - I use a Pandora battery (+MMS) to unbrick the PSP, but then I need a normal battery in order to play? |

1: keep battery out and turn on with ac adapter, then put battery in
2: install time machine(i think thats it)
