Default Advice on Modding.

I just bought a PSP 1000 used, and its in GREAT condition except for a few things. the Ring on the UMD cover is scratched as well as the faceplate. (The UMD door doesn't stick out like some used ones ive seen), and the Square button seems a little squishier than the rest of the buttons.

The bottom line is, I want this thing to look and feel like I just pulled it out of the box, possibly even better.

I have already planned on:

1. doing the D-pad mod with an NES sleeve and some glue.
2. Replacing the faceplate with an OEM black one.
3. Replacing the ring on the UMD door.
4. Replacing the Conductive Rubber Pads for both the D-pad and the face buttons.

My question is, is there anything I'm leaving out that I might want to do to make it look and feel brand spanking new? i want this console to last a very long time. I feel like i'm the only one that takes care of their PSP anymore, seeing all the beat up ones out there in the various gamestops ive been in.

I was also wondering...Is there a way to remove the UMD ring without removing the door completely?

you could also go with a skin from Decalgirl.com

they are very durable and they leave no sticky goo when you peel them off.

here is my nephew's http://forums.clubrsx.com/picture.ph...pictureid=1832

I had a decalgirl skin and I couldn't get it to fit right on my last PSP. I think i'm going to skip that route this time. I'm also not going to get an OEM faceplate, I think i'm going to go with a yellow Smooth As Silk faceplate.

That's definitely not "great condition"

Really? all my PSP's have had them at one time or another and if you don't get it right you just pull it off and put it back on, takes a bit of patience. I love how when I take it off after its been on for months and the PSP is completely scratch-free

Theres a difference between great and pristine. the scratches on the screen are hairline, and as long as I dont have to replace the UMD door i'm golden
