Default PSP Wont Charge Or Turn On

Okay let me first explain my situation. So I haven't played my PSP Slim (and if it's relevant it was on 3.71 M33 CFW) for a while as I was too busy with my 360. Of course it was struck down by the RRoD so I went to get my PSP and nothing. It wouldn't turn and it wouldn't charge. And before anyone says anything I tried using just the AC adapter and nothing. I even bought a new Charger. Nothing. I really need something to keep my sanity so if anyone can help please do.

Are you able to run on the AC adapter?

If so, buy a new battery. You battery may have gone bad over the time.

You could try getting a new powerboard from Dealextreme.com pretty cheap. Free shipping.

DealExtreme: $3.10 Replacement Power Switch with Circuit Board for PSP Slim/2000 Not sure if this'll be the solution, but it's worth a try. Unless someone can think of something better to try first.

Also send your 360 into Microsoft. Since it has the rrod, they'll mail a box out to you and repair it for free.

Yeah I'm in the process of sending my Xbox in as we speak but back on topic is there anything else and if this is my only solution is there another place I could obtain a circuit board and how would I install it without my house exploding.

I had the same problem, open up your PSP and re-solder the little power lead-in in the motherboard.

Currently only solution I can think of.

For another place, you can try google or google shopping.

Replacing it is pretty damn easy. All you have to do is remove the battery, then remove the faceplate, by unscrewing a few screws. The powerboard will be exposed as soon as you take the faceplate off. All you have to do is remove one black screw, then pop the ribbon cable out. Next pop the powerboard out (May have to pry it gently like the 1k's powerboard)

Default PSP Wont Charge Or Turn On

I've got a similar issue as described by the orginal poster.
Sorry if its bad to piggy back others who are having similar issues.

Here is my topo:

My PSP run (or used to anyways) on CF 4.01 M33 if my old memory is not playing tricks on me.

Everything always worked nicely during the 8 months i've been using it.
From there I stored my PSP in a drawer, with the battery in the device, for something like 4-5 months straight. I took it out of storage once or twice just to power it ON and getting it to recharge the battery. Device would POST and I would put it back in drawer.

Last week I took it out of storage but it wouldnt power-ON since the battery drained itself over time. What i did try was to obviously charge it. It wouldnt charge it seems. The device wouldnt start. I tried to power the unit without battery while being directly plugged in AC, that fails. I tried to charge with a different AC. Same results it fails. Tried to charge a different battery (A Service Battery) and that battery wouldnt charge either it seems. I brought my PSP at work and a co-worker landed me his battery (same model as mine) so that i could try to isolate the issue. His battery would'nt turn on my PSP either.

At this point, i have ruled-out the AC and battery adapters from the equoation. Since I tried many combination of spare ACs and batteries.

My problem seems internal to the unit, right?

All i can describe is this:
Everytime i try to start to PSP the Power Led would lit Full Green for a split second and goes back to blank. The device is not powering ON and doesnt seem to POST at all.

Would replacing the power-unit board like Crazeeotter is suggesting be my last step in troubleshooting this PSP unit?

Any suggestions?

Regards,

Az
