I have CFW 5.50 GEN-B2 or whatever. PSP 2000.

I bought a cheap battery off DealExtreme after Pandora-ing my stock one. For some reason, the PSP won't respond to the Pandora anymore. As for the cheap one, it will let it charge for about five minutes, then abruptly shut the PSP off. If I take the AC adapter out, it stays on for three seconds and THEN abruptly shuts off. It's like it shuts off if it has to calculate the time remaining to charge or something D:

Is there any solution to this?

Could be your battery or ac adapter....try using a different battery or AC, if you can get your hands on working ones(do any of your friends have PSP's) and see if that changes anything....Its prolly the cheap battery just being cheap....if you figure out that its neither the battery nor the AC, then theres a problem with your PSP

Magic Memory Stick? No. I got a seperate 8 GB one.

Do I need it for CFW...?

You need one to install custom firmware, but once its installed you dont need your memory stick to be a MMS...
