Default My next crazy idea

Ok tired of the batery life in my slim so going to fix that
I thought about doing the series battry mod
Useing 2 or 3 cells to increase the life of the PSP
but have a more insain plan
Here it is

Stock PSP cell on the right
My solution on the left
PSP is rated at 1200Mah
cell on the right is rated at 5000Mah

going to hook it up to a PSP power board and see if it will work
and charge properly in the PSP

Will update as I continue with the mod

I don't see why this *wouldn't* work as long as it fits in the case and supplies 3.6V. Are you going to remove the old battery motherboard and wire it to this?

Ok got the cell riged into a slim battery case

And here it is powering the PSP

Battery statis with it unpluged

And with it pluged into AC

PSP is a little confused

As i post this it is telling me the battery is fully charged at 100%
and still the power light is orange and it reads as charging
i'm guessing the PSP can't tell exsactly how much power this cell holds
and i will have to do a timed test to see just how long it will last

My standard battery lasts 2:35 with screen at max and running the demo loop in Armored Core 3 Portable.

Looks like the next step is to fit this monster into the PSP it self

Good job so far, looks like you may have to do some soft modding for it to read right. Maybe? lol

well that big ass bugger only gave me 3 hours run time
Backlight on High
Clock speed set to default
game running in demo
wifi on
sound max

must say i am less then thrilled with the result
so ill try another cell if i get the same result then i will see if stacking 2 makes any diferance.

UPDATE

Ok it looks like neather the PSP or sonys external charger will
correctly and fully charge this battery.
they show it being fully charged but when i place it on the charger i use
for my RC cars it shows it to only be about 30%
after fully charging it and re-running the runtime test i got it to run for 7:48
closer to what i was exspecting.

So now i am thinking of taking 2 of them and placeing them into a enclosure and making a portable power pack that will connect to the PSP's ac jack.

and then just do the dual PSP cell mod

More info as i progress

Yes thats why i wanted to see if i can use 1 massive battery to get better results, the weak link ended up being the charging system in the PSP it just can't handel such a high rated battery.
