I was thinking about this the other day, and I'm thinking due to the itouch/iphone app store success, sony might try to unveil an ofw app store for psp, but it would probably be limited |

Thats kinda of odd considering all the power that it has and all the stuff that it could do.

@Killer3737 - To accuse people of piracy in every post where they ask about games or apps being available is a little old. Albeit that most posts are targeted towards that, this thread was started because someone wanted to know exactly what Geek9 and SinSlayer responded with.
The PSP is extremely capable to and while having such an awesome underground is great, it would be nice to be on the same level as Apple with the availability of the CFW community and the actual developers like Apple have involved. Who wouldn't like just a calender app or a free puzzle style game on their MSPD to pass the time on a bus without waiting for a UMD to load for those who don't d/l full games from PSN or play backups? Even Nintendo got the hint with the DSi. GET OFF YOUR AAS SONY!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Yeah but sony know that if the psp allowed apps and certain games to run, that wernt from a UMD then it would allow hacks and exploits and that would ruin thier anti piracy plans. SO they make the PSP as unfriendly to homebrewers and coders as possible.
To be totally honest, WHY would you want apps for a psp? surely everyone owns a mobile phone? they have millons of apps you can get for free. The PSP is a gaming machine, sony should have concentrated on that fact from the start, instead of pushing UMD movies and other crap. |

The comment about everyone having cellphones is mute as well. That answer is no. Why do you think Sony implemented Skype into the PSP revisions? A capable device should have all of it's potential unlocked instead of being focused on one thing, that's how electronics evolve and hopefully get better. Sony has a catch on d/l's from PSN with DRM signing already. Look at the PS1 releases that can't be freely pushed around. And small games similar to those for Wii, 360, and PS3 would still use the gaming potential of the system as well. Again, look at the DSi as well. The games and apps are all written by company's through the same contracts as normal UMD games. UMD movies as a second form of media and use of the PSP is great. If you want a single task system, buy an N64. Even the PS1 was a multitask setup. It could play music cd's.

mrbob your comment about homebrewers exploiting that is not completely true because Sony could still require its signature |
