Well like the title says. I am lost as heck with this thing. Just bought it yesterday and trying to figure out how to put videos on my memstick. I already have dvd shrink and tried the psp video 9 but the psp cant recognize the movie. I have not down graded my software and I guess I have to in order to do what I want? I am really hesitant to do this though cause I dont want a damn brick!
Anyway site looks awesome and I have found a ton of info but have a long way to go.

converting dvds to psp formated videos:

Is there a mortal combat emulator

in the end, youll have a mpg file, then u run that through pspvideo9, plug in your usb cable, and tell it to copy and it will send it to the memory card

they must be named MV something something.... google it... but if your on 3.03 oe-c, or any firmware above 3.01, you can put it in a normal VIDEO folder on the root of the memory stick

I am on 2.71 whatever that is. It upgraded from the motogp game when I wanted to play it. So I guess that is firmware right?

You needn't be so worried about "bricking" anytime you "upgrade" with sony's official updater your flashing files, of course sony's upgraders were written by paid programmers, but the success rate of the downgraders on this site seems rather high, I know I had no problems. If you read, re-read, and re re-read the readme(thats what they are there for ) and dont freak and shut your psp off in the middle you wont have to worry about producing a stylish new doorstop
    Currently running 3.03 OE-C
