I just got a PSP my wife bought it for me! She's awsome! anyway Im obviously a newb and since this is the only newb section on this forum I would like to first say hello and then say thank you in advance to the answeres to all the BS questions I am going to ask as a FNG. Im gonna ask my first of many questions right here! Mods please let me know if I should move it. I have a list of things I would like to do with my psp and they are:
Play NES and SNES Games via an Emulator
Play EBoot PS1 games (FFVII in peticular)
Play the new castlevania game when it is released

So the question is what firmware should I be on to do all that stuff?

    THANKS A BUNCH!!!!!

Well then if you want to:
Play NES and SNES Games via an Emulator
Play EBOOT PS1 games (FFVII in particular)

You will need to get Pandora's Battery.

now after searching a bit Pandoras battery is a method of unbricking a psp right? Kinda like reinstalling windows via a bootable cd? So my psp has too high of a firmware version to downgrade, is that the reason I need pandoras battery?

Welcome aboard and enjoy your stay. And yes the firmware you have right now is too high so you need a pandora's battery to downgrade.

So I was enjoying my new psp when the UMD stopped wanting to load the discs. So i brought it back to gamestop for an exchange and I got another PSP this time with firmware 2.81. So the question is what do i need to do in order to accomplish what I stated above. Again thanks in advance!
