    Ave,

I have an XBOX & XBOX360 and have only been gaming on these two platforms, so PSP is a brand new venture for me. Just got a brand new PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack - And Loving Every Moment Of It!!

I definitely want to get into the whole modding scenario - but I have no clue where to begin, what to do and how to do it. Will probably be spending a lot of time browsing through these forums and hope to become an active poster!

Just wanted to say Hi - and if anyone wants to point me in the right direction for firmware modding of my PSP (which I'm assuming allows backups to be played), that'd be great too.

    Thanks!

Welcome to the site. You need to make a pandoras battery and magic memory stick to start out with. These are must haves for modding your psp. Once you get both of those things you should upgrade to 3.71 M33-3....it is pretty much the best CF for the psp slim. Use google to find out more about these things.

    Thanks guys!
Sounds awesome - I'll look around, and will post back wherever I stumble.

I have one question - and this is coming from the fact that I'm extremely new to the whole PSP itself, let alone modding a PSP...
When you play a backup - do you need it to be burned to a UMD, or is it copied on the Memory Stick and played from that?

    Thanks!

    Awesome! Thanks dannyf!

Quick Question: Is this youtube tutorial appropriate in order to create a Pandora's Battery and Magic Memory Stick (as stated by VeryThinPSP)?
YouTube - Creating a Pandora Magic Memory Stick

I got a 1GB Memory Stick with the Daxter Entertainment Pack - Can I use that for this procedure? I don't have anything important on it so I don't care about formatting it.

    Thanks!

I didn't know our GUIDES section was backup. I will start referencing them again.

She said she had bought a a new psp and upgraded from 3.60 to 3.72. This sound like a psp slim no? I don't think you can downgrade a psp slim to 1.5.

It works normally now. All the guides show up on the right side of the forum when you click the button. I didn't notice it at first but they are there. I am very happy about it.

Oh, I guess it works 100% normal now. I didn't scroll down.

    Umm, a little confused.
In case you're referring to me - first of all i'm a 'he'
Secondly, I just brought a Brand New Daxter Pack PSP - I think it's the new Slim PSP - I don't know what version, firmware it has - but I don't think it's the fat one.

    It's this one basically:
Buy the Sony PSP Daxter Entertainment Pack and other PSP hardware at circuitcity.com

    Thanks!

OMG, I am so sorry for referring to you as a she. I thought for some reason I was talking to Sofiya from China. Yeah it is not a phat psp ( which refers to the size/model of the psp ) it is a psp slim. Your firmware was 3.60.

Hey not a problem at all!

So basically my Original Firmware is 3.60? And the idea is to get it to be CF 3.71 M33-2 ... does that sound about right?

Do I need to buy a separate Battery or Memory Stick for this process? Or are the ones that comes with the pack sufficient?

Well you should go to a store and buy an extra battery for your pandoras battery. You can totally use the MS that came with your daxter pack since it is a 1 gig stick. I bought the SONY 3.6v 2200mAh battery and it worked very well. I think you should go for 3.71 M33-3 instead of 3.71 M33-2 though. It is an easy upgrade that fixes a few things and it even comes with the new popstation.
