Hey guys not been here or any psp scene website in over a year, and barely picked up my psp until a couple of weeks ago.

So, just wondering generally what is new on the firmware/homebrew scene? My PSP currently is on 1.5 fw with devhook up to 2.71 i think.

I had a snes emulator that worked quite well, a megadrive one and a GameBoyColor one that didn't really work very well at all.

So whats new/better for me a year on?

    Cheers.

Well the CFW scene has changed in the last year.Dark_Alex left the scene. Then a new team popped up calling themselves Team M33.Later we came to find out that M33 was actually DA.the newest custom firmware is 3.71 M33-3.You also have 3.52 M33 3.51 M33 and 3.40 OE-a.There is a new thing called Pandora's Battery. It allows ALL PSP's to be downgrade or in the case of the Slim PSP have CFW put on them.Pandora will also unbrick any bricked PSP.

Thanks. It would be great if you could point me in the direction of a tutorial of some sort for this latest firmware, and maybe a list/readme of what it does?

    Cheers.

Sure.Another thing Devhook is no longer needed b/c CFW has all its features. To install 3.71 M33-3 you will first have to go to 3.52 M33-4.

Thanks again. I was just about to ask if Devhook was now redundant but you just answered that one for me

Last question then i'll get out of your hair . With this new CW does that basically mean i can do everything i could on 1.5 but have no need to emulate higher firmwares for playing games etc?

Well with the latest CFW you can play emulators, PSX on your PSP,bcakups of your games. No longer to emulate higher CFW.3.71 M33 uses PTF themes so no longer have to worry about messing up your flash0.It's basically ervery othe CFW in one.

    Thanks, sounds great.

So just to get this clear, i need to install 3.52 M33 from my 1.5, then update that to M33-4, then i can install 3.71 M33-3.

Before i update to 3.52 should i remove all the devhook stuff first?

Hey guys i have had a slight problem.

    I used this auto installer
    RapidShare: 1-Click Webhosting

To upgrade to 3.52 M33 and that worked fine. However i then went to install the 3.52 M33-4 Update -

    PSP Downloads | 3.52 M33-4 Update

And it won't run. It launches from the game menu but then after a short display of a black screen it says "The Game could not be started. (80020148).

I copied the M33Update4 folder with EBOOT.PBP into the GAME folder.

Anyone see what i've done wrong?

    Cheers.

Nevermind that i found the problem, needed the GAME150 folder rather than just game.

I have one more question though, what are the benefits of upgrading to 3.71 M33-3? Whats the differences from 3.52 M33-4?

    Thanks.

Well there are no major differences. but heres some:

You dont need to manually access the flash to install new themes, instead download a ptf theme and put it in the theme folder on the root of the mem stick.

The vshmenu can be accessed by pressing "SELECT" instead of "HOME" so it doesnt interfere with the other function of "HOME"

I dont know about anything else lol
