welcome to mod.

1. firmware is your psp operating system
2. in theory, if you can read and understand english, you are good.
3. well, it depends. read both of this guide:

Easy-To-Use Pandora's Battery Guide

Guide using Pandora's Battery *easy way, but you must have CFW*

valledor03 hit every point, so I'll just say welcome to psp mod

EDIT: for the clear umd door ( which is called hard modding- when you mod the physical components of the psp), you should look at acidmods.com. They are pros with hard mods. I'm only good with software mods which obviously mod the software of the psp :P.

DOUBLE EDIT: here are some hard mod tutorials. http://www.acidmods.com/forum/index.php?board=277.0 I'm sure that you can find a umd door mod somewhere on the site because I have, but I don't have time right not to find the exact link.

Welcome to pspmod forums, if your still trying to find out information, your best bet would be to use the search button up the top of the page, and usually will find what your looking for.
