Okay so, thing of it is, I got a PSP for a Christmas Gift, dunno what model or make it is, or date code or whatever else...and I have yet to get a Pandora Battery (Datel or otherwise). I do however have a 4 GB Magicgate Sandisc stick and USB connector.

    To repeat:

    My Number: AB026317489-PSP2001
System Software: Official Sony 5.02 (Via Network Update).

I'm really at my wits end as to what I need and what I can do with it.

    Please help.

best way to know for certain is just follow my instructions in my guide for rains mms maker.its the 1st link in my signature.i included the link to making a pandora battery as well, since youll need to have a pandora battery to run the mms to get cfw.if it doesnt work, then thats a dead giveaway that you have unhackable mobo.good luck

Since my firmware is 5.02 I don't know what cfw I would need to begin with...

But I dunno if I'd be wasting my money on a Datel Pandora battery that won't work in any case.

mime,if its hackable any firmware would do as you need to downgrade using pandora and mms newho. pandoras and mmses do not judge on cfw processing cause your flashing the entire psp in service mode(psp cant read that its installed with anything in service mode)

Okay so if I'm understanding you right I can:

    1) Obtain a Pandora Battery that'll put the "Slim" PSP in Service Mode. (I have a sandisc 4 GB memory stick).
    2) Regardless of my Official Firmware (5.02), I can downgrade? What would I downgrade with, and what version to downgrade to?
    3) Once downgraded, I can install any version of custom firmware?

Someone mentioned M33 to me. Though I'm not sure what that refers to...I am actually quite new to all this terminology.

couple posts up i told you to read and follow the instructions in my 1st link in my signature.if you follow it,it will give you 4.01 m33-2 or 5.00 m33-4 if you want to continue after making the mms.the latest firmwares are usually the best,so really picking and choosing the firmware sounds a bit silly to me.but if you wish to have lower firmware, find a different mms maker setup.course i wouldnt see why.lower firmwares have lesser features and abilities

Sorry if I seem naiive, I'm just confused with whether or not I "need" to downgrade from 5.02 or not. I don't have a Pandora yet, so anything beyond this point is hypothetical till I actually try it with one.

But I found a serial number in the back of the PSP behind the battery:

    HU2631748

    Hopefully that's not a TA-88

doesnt sound like one,but ya never know.just trust me and follow the guide.

i do not babble complete and utter nonsense.ive helped many using this guide i told you to look at and other advice i give,so i am pretty well to be trusted.
you would need to use this because you need to get custom firmware and you cant get custom firmware any other way from your official version.

Is it possible to "soft-mod" my battery into Pandora and then turn it back to normal?
