I bought a psp off ebay its a 1003 model with official firmware 5.02 and I have a datel tool for the battery but for the life in me I cant get the MMS to work.
I have used rains MMS maker on 2 different 512 mb card and also a brand new 4GB card bought from Costco (sandisk) so I would think its legit. I was aiming for 4.01 and also the 1.50 kernal as I assume my psp is a phat one. I Load up the two files into rains and everything seems fine and it finishes copying the files but then i put a card into my psp hold down the l button and put in my battery and nothing happens I have also tried this with my power adapter plugged in and still nothing. How long should i hold down the l button for? and is there anything else i should be doing?

Well he said 1003 so yeah, that's a phat. Did the battery tool confirm that the battery had been turned into a Pandora (I've not used one so i don't know how they work). It might be that you used a battery that can't be modded.

Otherwise you've done everything correctly. It should be not connected to the AC, you put the memory stick in, hold down the left trigger, then put the battery in.

    New to PSP yes.
    Idiot no.
I based it on it being a phat as ive seen newer models and they were slim.
Out of the three batteries that came with it none of them could be modded by cutting the pin on the pcb they were of a different type and with the datel only one of them would switch over into tool mode and when i put it in the PSP wont turn on so I dont think thats the problem.
I updated it to 5.02 before I had even knew about cfw.
Any one else any ideas so my Sundays not a complete waste?

    Have you followed this guide:

If you're doing everything correctly i can't think of any other reason why it wouldn't work.
