Hey all...I'm new and looking to have a few questions answered...

I have a phat PSP, I don't know how else to identify it other than by saying that I bought it when it first came out, and I downgraded to firmware 1.50 last year. So, a without further ado, a myriad of questions:

How do I identify my PSP? And what are the important things I need to know about its version, hardware, firmware, etc?

What can and should I do with this thing? Why shouldn't I just upgrade it on sony's official firmware?

What sort of emulation can I do? and how do I get there?

Is there any way of playing PSP games without a UMD?

Will I still be able to play UMD games if I update to a custom firmware?

I've got a phat 1.50. Tell me what to do, if you please. Haha

Its good that you have a psp 1000 with 1.5 version. They are damn rare.
You wont need pandora battery to upgrade to cfw as you have 1.5 version.

You can use your psp as universal remote, play ps1 games on it etc

Why would you buy a crappy 15000 dollar car, when you can get a 100k car for same price? So you dont need to upgrade to sony official firmware. Moreover if you upgrade, you will need pandora battery and MMS to go to cfw.

All consoles upto ps1 can be emulated upto more or less extent.

You never loooooose anything when you get cfw.So YES.

Pm me if you have 1.5 firmware,i will guide you through the process.

    First

Go look in the freaking guide section, 3rd one down is how to install custom firmware.

    All Phat PSP's are moddable

Do not update to sony's with your current firmware, the way it is, you do not need a Pandora I believe.

you can emulate GBA,Nintendo 64 is getting there, PS1, and older consoles, SNES and older

yeah you can play back ups of umd's

yes you can still play umd's

p.s. your updating process will be different if you don't use a Pandora battery and magic memory stick.

well i had to get 5 posts to be able to pm...i thought i'd do it on my own thread instead of just dropping some needless bs elsewhere.

The trouble still remains...I've got firmware 1.5 and apparently don't need a pandora battery...so what now?
