Where am I? What am I doing?

Hello. Just another random person here, call me Sky. Just heard about ta088v3 finally being hacked, I live in one those poor countries that rely on unofficial software to survive. I must admit that I have very little knowledge on modding/hacking, and would like someone's help involving my PSP.

I found I have a 2001 4.01 TA088v3 PSP, with a little research. I have not done any real customizations other than putting a custom picture as my background. I downloaded several things and would like to know how to use them, like:
Do I need to update my PSP to OFW 5.00 or 5.03 to use ChickHENR2(503)?
Would CFW 503GEN-A HEN be better?
Is there a guide to properly install and use the CFWenabler(2.51)?
I also read somewhere about using a psardumper(500) for something, but do I really need it?

If I should have more questions like these, where should I ask/post them? Thank you for your time.

update to 5.03(not thru network update, if you do your scwed)
the run the chick hen, then ether cfw enbabler or 5.03 gen(NOT RECOMENDED AND THIS POINT) but its your choise.
psardumper is not really nedded, all it does is extract offical firmware eboots
