Hello everyone.

I love video games, obviously why I am here, but do not really know all the technical terms, i.e. what firmware exactly is, what an iso is, how to mod anything etc.

I just mainly know how to put in a game and play it, but I want to know more.

Before I start posting, I was wondering if you had any certain tutorials or posts you can link me to so I dont flood the board with redundant questions.

I have the GOW: Chains of Olympus psp...The red one with Kratos on the back. I believe the firmware is 4.05 maybe, I checked in settings and that is what it said for the system software.

I want to know how to mod, how to get emulators, how to make it cool, ya know, the works. What should owners of psp's know?? What do I need to make it cool??

Any and all help would be appreciated, as I am a total newbie when it comes to technical stuff like this. Again, I am asking these questions now so I don't flood the board with redundant questions.

More info about me: I am 24 and live in Indiana. I own a psp, ps2, and a ps3. I guess you can say I am a ps man all the way, though I can't really back up WHY that is, as I haven't had much experience with XBOX.

Firmware is the operating system of the psp. When the psp first came out it had no security against applications that was not made by sony, so people created emulators and apps and used them as they pleased. However sony saw that running emulators and apps could make them lose money, so they updated the firmware and put in security against those homebrew apps so the psp could only run programs with their signature on it. So then their was the discovery of methods to carry your psp back down to the 1.5 firmware which had no security against homebrew so you could play emulators.
But sony in their infinite wisdom decided to release games with the latest update on it and they put in security in the game that made the game unable to run on lower firmware than what came packaged with it, so if you stayed on 1.5 you would lose the ability to play the latest games.
Then a man named dark alex came up with the brilliant idea to modify sony's latest firmware so that it removes the security checks and is able to run homebrew and iso( backups of your psp games on your memory card), and then cfw(custom firmware was formed.

I have tried to run chickhen tho it just freezes and doesn't reboot.

I restored my system settings to default and tried it again though t doesnt work.

I tried mostly everything on JOEY's sig page



I even turned off UMD Cache.

I am at a loss...any help??

make sure everything is in its right place and try again or download the files from another source and try again.
alot of people have problems to make it load

Ok, I've tried everything, and STILL nothing works. I guess I'll just have to get games the old fashioned buying way without chickHEN.
