hey guys. thanks for the heads up on the rules. read, understood and agreed.

yup, it is definitely on 3.72 and my mobo is a TA-085v1. im in australia, so its a 2002 psp. as far as i can tell its hackable.

after seeing the psp at a local pawn store, i have spent the weekend reading up on hacking psps. i marched back in there yesterday and grabbed my simpsons edition for a pretty decent price. they actually had a phatty there too... but 2002 seemed to be in better condition. i have been on ds for about a year now and as much as i enjoy it... the psp is just way more customizable and powerful. tbh, im surprised i havent ventured down the psp path earlier and i am pretty happy with my new toy, even though its isnt hacked yet.

there was one thing that kinda got to me though. i got my psp with the simpsons game. cool! its okay, but not really something i would get into. so i went to a games place and picked up tiger woods 2009. when i tried to load it up... Mr psp told me i needed to update my firmware in order to play the game i just forked out $$ for. pretty disheartening. i guess sony think they have their reasons for controlling their customers like this, but this is pretty poor form on their behalf. so, untill i get my head around the mods and hacks, i will be returning the game and exchanging it for an older one that will play on my current version.

anyway, so im reading up on everything and trying to take it all in before i take the plunge and teak my psp. im finding it all a bit overwhelming with all the different modz there are out there. i'd rather do things right and not add a paver to the yellow brick road.

thanks for all the info on the site. its been a great help so far. hopefully i will be able to contribute to the forum some how too.

    grtz

ps, danos: thanks for pointing me in the right direction and king: will do, thanks

when you finish with that guide you will be able to play the tiger woods game, so maybe you should not return it.
edit: can you point me to a good ds hacking site possibly a thread with the basics, been wanting to learn about it

    yo dude

that tutt is pretty cool. im just looking at the pandora option. not sure whats better.

about the ds, i have used the r4 card. twice. the first one was a 4GB MicroSD SDHC and my current one is an older original r4 card with only a 2GB MicroSD. apparently there are a some 'fake' r4's nowadays which can brick ds's. i havent had any trouble though. with mine, im just using it mainly to play music and old street fighter nes roms. nothing too extreme. i got the nes emulator from a friend. works well.

well yeah if you wanted to go to 5.oom33-6 automatically you needed to put the official 5.00 eboot in the root of your ms or in the reecovery folder

didnt know that at the time. plus the older version of HC would only gimme an option of 3.71 and nothing else.
