Things a New Member Should NOT Do.
I enjoyed reading that, thank you. I'm kind of in the same box as OldSkooRebel, I came to help answer not to ask, but I did find this somewhat useful, and with your slight humorous twist, I think it will linger in my mind a little bit longer (and hopefully other's minds as well). I think this just re-affirms that awesome quote in your sig... lol |

This is kind of a compendium of rules, common sense (that new ones lack), and the new user's guide.
Linked to the guide though. |

Did you just make up my quote? I don't remember saying that...
And the reason for this is that no one ever asks about the rules, and because I'm not even an authority figure like the moderators are. If even the lowest ranking people on this site can make up these rules, then others may be inclined to listen.

I sometimes do #5 for fun in the spambox. If I'm lazy I'll do #13, but only double posting... |

Thanks man. Some people think that I'm being a "wannabe-moderator", but really, it's not that at all. A lot of people have the mentality that moderators abuse their powers and that we don't have to listen to them. This is for those people, and for new members as well, just to let them know that we care too. Even though it was posted by me, I consider it written by all of the regulars.

1+ and thumbs up Product F(RED)!
Most of this comes as common sense for me, after plenty of years in different forums, and actually being a mod in some of them. The problem is, and will always be, that people are generally to f***ing lazy to even check the rules or readme's of these forums. That's the same reason why people spam up our forums with 23534 different threads on the same topic, asking questions that's already been answered 23534 times, and not taking the time to check it up themselves.
Solution? Well.. it's as much a solution as nothing, but in the forums where I am mod, we started redirecting those threads, to treads that already existed and where thoroughly answered, then we closed the tread and after some weeks removed it. A clean and happy forum indeed. Or.. somewhat.
Still, this should be part of the rules, or at least be a sticky.
Edit: Haha, I see now that it already is a Sticky! You should add "Read the WHOLE thread before asking questions or come with remarks!"
Still, this is a nice one..

Oh, crap, I thought I saw someone else's username. Removed my last comment. Can you remove my quote?
And can a mod please lock this thread to prevent spamming?
