    ofw - official firmware.
cfw - custom firmware which is what you want.

both the first and last links on my sig guide you through the process with only a slight difference. the last link doesnt require you to hardmod your battery (as in cut open the battery).

you should also really learn what you're dealing with here. you might want to get it done for your girls but not knowing how it works, what it does, or what it IS, could put you in a situation where you WILL come back here asking for help AGAIN.

ok i got all 3 working by following your steps.. but one question...
if i want to go to system software : 4.01 M33-2 and i currently have 3.71 M33-2. what do i need to do? and does the numbers mean, the software is being supersede by the next number? do i need to install them step by step like 1 then 2 then 3 then 4 ? and where do i move the files to for them to work?
