Hiya everyone! I'm new...well, obviously you knew that

My name is Karina (Emma or Magi though), I'm 17 and I'm a author. I'm really short as well.

Well, if you have anything to ask me about myself or something, feel free to ask!

Anyway, I'm been reading over the guides and I'm not quite sure if my model is brickable. So I decided to make a account here and ask.

But I can't seem to find out where to post my question...

    Well, that's all!

Every psp can be bricked. Hard part can be figuring out if your Psp is hackable or not / how to go about installing cfw.

Oh, well mine is a thick blue PSP 2001. But my brother didn't include the box so I can't check the serial code. I read through one of the guides and it said checking that could help determined if its brickable/hackable.

I want to be able to rip my Final Fantasy 7/9 to my computer and be able to play it on my PSP. But I don't know if its possible.

Plus, my newest update is in the 5.00 area....

Probably the Madden Psp which is 50/50 chance of having a hackable or unhackable motherboard.

You should check the firmware. If it's at or below 5.03 then you can use the second link in my sig. If it's above you'll have to try Pandora + MMS.

I think its 5.03. I'll check right now. Is there a way to check the serial code without the box?

    What's MMS?

    EDIT:

    Its 5.51. Is it hopeless?

MMS is Magic Memory Stick, used with a Pandora battery to install cfw on Hackable 2ks and all 1ks.

If you're lucky enough to have one of the Hackable motherboards, then all you need is a Pandora and MMS. xD

Really? Okay, how would I go about learning to do it to a 5.51? I'm really, really new to this. I've hacked Sega Dream cast memory cards and disks, but that's all.

How do I go about checking my motherboard?

How do I go about running the stuff needed to check?

Well, when my brother first gave it to me, the firmaware was below 3.02. Is that good?

Ah, man...I don't think mine is hackable. I checked underneath the battery and there is a number that says "HU8748720" *sigh*

Since it's a slim, it couldn't have come with a firmware below 3.02. But.. If you know for sure that it didn't come with a firmware higher than 3.95 then you have a hackable motherboard.

    http://www.pspmod.com/forums/psp-beg...lity-list.html

Every mobo for the 1k-3k is listed there along with the firmwares that they were shipped with.

Its a thick blue PSP 2001 model....

I do know for fact though that it was below 3.95. My younger brother went and updated without telling me but I knew the firmaware it had wasn't even close to 3.95....

    You already said that. xD

I suppose it could have been hacked already when it was given to you, then you could have updated it to ofw without knowing. You should ask your brother if he had hacked it before or not.

Either way i'd suggest either buying a Pandora battery from Dealextreme.com / Amazon.com or finding someone with a 1k that already has cfw and having them softmod their battery to Pandora for ya.

Followed by you making the MMS.

    Sorry about that >.<

Well, I don't get to speak with my brother anymore. He's in the Navy now...

How do I run the software to check the motherboard? Could that help me? :P

Once your psp is beyond 5.03, there's no way to run Pspident which is often used to determine which Motherboard model you have.

You'll just have to go the Pandora route. Like I said before though, if you know for sure that the psp was not on 4.00 or higher firmware when you got it, then it's fully hackable.
